Building Limes conference to be held at The Engine Shed, Stirling

The Building Limes Forum 2019 Conference and Gathering, supported by Historic Environment Scotland, takes place at The Engine Shed, Stirling, Friday 20 – Sunday 22 September.

The theme for this year’s annual conference is Lime Finishes and Lime in Extreme Climates with papers on these topics interspersed with contributions from members. Tim Meek, an award-winning builder and craftsman, will present the Baker Memorial Lecture at the gala dinner which will be held in the Great Hall of Stirling Castle.

Practical demonstrations and hands-on activities will take place at Doune Castle, where it is proposed to build and fire a small-scale kiln, and at the Scottish Lime Centre. Other highlights of the three-day event include a chance to see the stunning interiors of Kinneil House and Bannockburn House. Delegates can also enjoy tours of Charlestown, the home of the largest complex of historic lime kilns in the UK, Stirling Town and Stirling Castle.
