2012 Conference and Gathering
21-23 September 2012, Durham, England
The Building Limes Forum is holding its annual conference from Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd September 2012 at St. John’s College, Durham. Durham is a beautiful city and a world heritage site, which will make an ideal location for a gathering. It is easily accessible, particularly by train, and road communication is easy as Durham is just off the A1. Newcastle and Teesside airports are not too far away.
On Friday we will be examining the many uses of lime in building, covering both conservation and new build. The presentations will cover the importance of lime in the repair of old buildings and in the sustainability of new buildings. Coverage will also be given to the application of building standards and building regulations. In the evening there will be a dinner at Durham Castle.
Saturday will start with lime-related case studies and in the afternoon we will visit and be given a guided tour of various projects involving lime. In the evening is dinner at St. Johns preceded by a talk given by renowned lime expert Stafford Holmes.
On Sunday morning there will be presentations by delegates on topical issues and in the afternoon there is the choice of either a tour of the cathedral, a walking tour of the city, or a visit to Beamish Open Air Museum.
Accommodation has been booked for delegates at St John's College.
The cost of all of the above plus lunch on the three days, and tea / coffee is only £290. If you prefer you may come for just the parts that interest you. Booking will open in the spring of 2012.
